Girls’ Day: Hands-on quantum technologies

Discover quantum physics with your own torch! (Year 9-10)

📅 23 April 2026, 9 a.m. – 1.30 p.m. at Hahn-Schickard

On Girls' Day, the Institute for Microintegration at the University of Stuttgart and Hahn-Schickard, Institute for Microassembly Technology, will open their laboratories and demonstrate that quantum technologies are not just a dream of the future, but already fit in your pocket today.

The focus is on a battery-powered pocket-sized demonstrator for quantum technologies, which clearly shows how quantum physical effects can be used for innovative sensor technology. The demonstrator is based on research results from the BMFTR-funded project ‘QOOOL Sensing’ and makes complex science tangible.

Our institute places a strategic focus on quantum technologies and is specifically committed to recruiting young talent in the STEM subjects. On Girls' Day, we want to inspire schoolgirls in particular to take an interest in research, technology and scientific careers and give them an insight into the everyday work of female scientists.
